چکیده
Emotive imagery is a variant of systematic desensitization that has been developed for use in the treatment of children’s excessive fears. We outline clinical guidelines for the use of emotive imagery and present several case examples. Although emotive imagery appears to be useful and cost ef cient, controlled studies are needed to establish the ef cacy of emotive imagery and explore the active treatment ingredients or mechanism.

Despite advances in the assessment and treatment of childhood phobias, little is known about their etiology. Rachman has proposed that phobias are acquired through three different pathways: direct conditioning, modeling or instructions/information. We evaluate the empirical support for Rachman's theory in relation to the origins of childhood phobias. Although we find support for Rachman's theor...

Disgust was targeted via imagery exposures as part of an exposure-based cog...
